Specify requirements
April 10, 2013
Identify any business requirements or user goals that must be met for the product to be successful.
In this phase of "specify the user and organizational requirements", user and business requirements should be derived and objectives set with appropriate tradeoffs identified between the different requirements.
The following techniques can gather useful information about requirements:
- Scenarios:
Scenarios specify how users carry out their tasks in a specified context. Scenarios give the real-life user story details. These details give the design team a deeper understanding of the users and usersf characteristics that may help or hinder interaction. - Personas:
A persona is a fictional person who represents different user types within a targeted demographic, attitude and/or behavior set that might use a site, brand or product in a similar way. Personas are created after the field research process, which typically consists of members of the user group being observed on their behaviour, and additionally answering questionnaires or participating in interviews. A persona usually includes a name, picture and some demographics such as age, education, ethnicity, or family status, etc. Personas helps the project team focus on the usersf goals and needs.
